BP, the world's third largest natural resource company, rebranded all assets to establish a consistent and comprehensive brand presence.
Chemicals led all BP divisions in the rebranding process to ensure input in the final product. I moved to London to serve as the lead Internet consultant for the BP Chemicals Marketing team. We worked closely with the BP Global Brand team and other agencies in developing and implementing the standards for all BP websites.
Working with the Brand Team and the BP Styleguide, I developed specific templates that were used by all Chemicals business units to promote a consistent look and reduce overall costs.
Initial sites were developed using Interwoven Teamsite per the BP global directive. When BP moved away from Interwoven, the sites were produced to be ready for future content management system integration yet still be easily edited using Microsoft FrontPage2000.
BP editors were trained to use FrontPage2000, dramatically reducing maintenance costs. The cost of Interwoven could not be justified for the small amount of edits that were to be performed on the majority of sites.
The rebrand also included several sites with complex databases and BP Chemicals e-commerce site, ChemicalsChoice. Several Flash tutorials for sales and training purposes were created with a modular approach so they could be easily rebranded, and translated in multiple languages.
Over a two year period, I led the rebrand and creation of over twenty BP Chemicals websites, extranet sites, intranet sites, and Flash demonstrations.
