BP, the world's third largest natural resource company, rebranded to establish a consistent and comprehensive brand presence.
After rebranding several sites that did not conform with the BP Styleguide, I was contracted as lead Internet consultant by BP Energy to ensure all new sites would be rebranded in accordance with the BP Styleguide, yet still retain their individuality.
Working from the BP Styleguide, specific templates were developed that were used by several Energy business units to promote a consistent look and reduce overall costs.
To tie in with print promotions, custom templates and dynamic Flash elements were created for key sections of the sites.
Based upon a realistic view of the number of times updates would be performed by the client, I advised BP Energy to use Microsoft FrontPage2000 to make basic edits. While FrontPage is not used during development, the recent versions provide an easy to use, recognizable interface that does not corrupt HTML code like previous FrontPage versions.
The result was dramatically lower ongoing expenses compared with the alternative content management solution that was too complex and would sit unused.
